Loving like cats and dogs

Published by puppyeyes under Uncategorized Edit This

Tom and Jerry are just a myth. Cats and dogs CAN get along, especially if they grow up together.  I got my calico kitten , Sassy , a week after my brother’s cat died. No one was quite ready to move on but the kitten was there. A little ball of black, white and orange fur.

We got neela , our black puppy, a week later. From the start, Sassy adored neela.  At first, they were the same size or at least closer to eachother’s size and played constantly. The amount of mischief those two got into was insane.

The early years

Sassy used to go on top of the refrigerator and grab a bag of bread with her mouth and drop it on the floor below so neela could grab it.  Neela would open the refrigerator and grab her heart’s desire and sometimes would share the spoils with Sassy.

Sassy adored Neela in a way a younger sister lover her older sister.  There was never any rivalry, fighting or anything of the sort.  When Sassy had her first batch of kittens, it was Neela who took care of the kittens and not Sassy. She even tried to breastfeed the kittens!  Whenever the kittens whimpered Neela would fuss over them. It was quite strange…

Neela the mother?

However Neela could not stand other cats. If any cats were prowling around the roof she would bark loudly. For Neela,  Sassy was a dog.  The same thing happened with our previous pets Freddy the Cocker spaniel and Snowball the cat… although Freddy would try to rape Snowball and that was just, well, wrong.  ( Shudder)

The point is,  pets will tend to be loyal to other species as long as they live together. If you introduce a new pet to the bunch, make sure you give your older pet enough attention so that they don’t feel neglected. As long as you keep a good balance even birds will be safe from cats.

Ode to a kitty litter

Published by puppyeyes under Uncategorized Edit This

There was a time, about six months ago that I knew nothing about kitty litter except that in some houses it stunk up the place. I simply had trained my cat to go in the garden and had lived in blissful ignorance ever since. However this came to an abrupt halt when my mother left for England and my cat had kittens. I would continuously find that my cat, in an act of defiance, would pee on my mum’s bed. It became too much the day she decided to pee WHILE I was on the bed. And so began the search for the best kitty litter available

First of all the first thing you have to do when searching for kitty litter is finding a good place to store it. Cats like dark and private place so make sure Bob is not exposed to the world. If my cat spots me looking at her she will not go.  I guess I really can’t blame her.

The next step is finding a good kitty litter, preferably with a semi lid, which prevents the sand from spilling over to your carpet or floor. Then, it is on to finding the best kitty litter.

Firstly, I would recommend not sparing any cost over the kitty litter. It isn’t worth your mental wellbeing. The first kitty litter I bought cost me only seven bucks and lasted seven days before it stunk to holy heaven.

You have to look for a kitty litter, which does three things: eliminates odor, allows proper clumpage and had enough sand for multiple uses. There are those who are of the opinion that this is damaging for the cat and their hygiene, so it is better to make your own choice.

I must say that once I went through those steps it was much easier process, I didn’t even need to train the cat to go in the litter, needless to say my mother’s bed has been safe ever since.

God made cute for a reason

Published by puppyeyes under Uncategorized Edit This

You come home from a long day of grueling work and all you want to do is relax in your beautiful new sofa. As you get ready to prop your feet up and watch the latest episode of your favourite television program you are surprised by a scuffling sound and an arupt moving of the couch.

You know something is up. With the perpretator mysteriously absent you find a beautiful mess to take care of. Not only has the pup destroyed your favourite pillow but he has also somehow managed to find your favourite shoes and are now officially a  pliable chew toy.  And when you try your best to find the coward ( who has become increasingly good at hiding) which takes you a good twenty minutes.  And there he is looking rather guilty, ears pointed down cowering in fear. Ah yes, you are ready to give them a good stare down. And then you see it : the big watery helpless stare. And despite yourself your heart jumps. Damn it, you have fell for it again.

There is a reason God made pets cute, it is to make them irresistible. But be strong, and be diligent in your discipline, because a cute pet is not cute as an adult just reckless and spoiled.

Hello fellow lovers of fluff !

Published by puppyeyes under Uncategorized Edit This

Welcome to a blog about the sheer love of puppies, kittens and anything cute and adorable. However, don’t be fooled folks there is a reason God made them so darn irresistible. These balls of fur are also hell with wheels if you don’t handle them correctly.  So don’t fall prey to their cute little puppy eyes, stand tall and take your stand.sassy-and-neela.jpg
